When it comes to budget friendly guitars for the beginner musician or even the person who doesn't have a whole lot of money in the Squier/Fender instruments are the way to go. These guitars are pretty cheaply built and don't require a whole lot of money to obtain one. Many of these instruments float around hundred dollars to $200 or so. They're fairly cheap and overall construction with the woods that they use and the construction built as well as the pick ups. I would probably say that the pick ups are probably the most expensive part of these instruments. Overall they're not really that good of a guitar but you are looking to purchase someone's first instrument or your child's first guitar and this might be the way to go. Because it's not a lot of money out of pocket and you're still trying to figure out whether or not this music thing is going to work.

SOUNDS

The tone of the guitars are pretty basic and standard. If you've ever played any type of Fender Stratocaster guitar than you know exactly what type of sound good to get out of this inch. They are basic singles coil type sound that will have a bluesy soulful type voice to it. It doesn't have a lot a warmth or flat tone to the sound will give you a basic clean sound that will be enough to learn how to play the electric guitar with. It really doesn't matter what type of amplifier or effects you use, these guitars because you're basically just trying to figure out whether or not you can even play the guitar. This is a good guitar for someone who's really trying to get there chord shapes and technique down. It's a learners guitar and nothing about it screams professionalism.

OVERALL OPINION

You can find these guitars fairly easily for write around $100 or so. They're not that expensive of an acquisition and if you're looking for something that's a little bit better built and I would go with something that is Korean made because they seem to hold up a lot better build standards. These guitars are not of high quality and you can really tell by just the feel of them. But if you looking for something that's cheap and is a gamble to whether or not your child is going to learn how to play the guitar this is the way to go.
